Summary
During solo student taxi operations at Archerfield Airport, a Brisbane Aviation College Cessna 172 collided with a privately operated Beechcraft Bonanza on the General Aviation parking apron. The Cessna's right wingtip struck the Bonanza's rudder. No injuries. Minor damage to both aircraft.
Investigation Findings (4)
- 01The student pilot was unfamiliar with the non-standard taxi route required due to apron construction works.
- 02Non-standard taxi routes were notified by NOTAM but not adequately briefed by the supervising instructor.
- 03Poor sight lines due to temporarily displaced tie-down equipment contributed to the student not seeing the parked aircraft.
- 04Archerfield Airport management subsequently amended the NOTAM to include a diagram of the temporary taxi route.
